The Mercer School's Spring program catalog has arrived, and it presents an abundance of opportunities to develop clergy and lay leadership skills. New programs such as Invite-Welcome-Connect and Renewalworks have been initiated to enhance hospitality ministry and to support parochial spiritual self-assessment. In May, workshops in congregational stewardship will be offered by our Canon for Stewardship. Tried and true events for Parish Vestry and Officers, as well as Parish Administrators are repeated. First Tuesdays, the clergy continuing education program continues through June. And The Path, a parish group participation reading and study journey of scripture stories will be previewed on May 11 at the Ministry Resource Day.
The spring term of the School for Ministry opened on Saturday, February 16 The Bishop was present to celebrate at our 12 noon Eucharist. On the same day seven new Postulants for Holy Orders met at Mercer with their Bishop at the Postulants' Retreat. We began conversations with them about their needs going forward. They will be pursuing different paths on their journeys to ordination and will attend some special classes at Mercer beginning on March 16. A "Lunch & Learn" program on the Book of Common Prayer conducted at mid-day four Tuesdays in Lent has attracted twenty-one lay people from eleven parishes in the diocese. School for Ministry offerings are growing!!
All of these programs can be found in the booklets available in parish offices or here on this webpage.
